PORTFOLIO

CORPORATE WORK

My corporate work spans varied industries — including oil and gas, aerospace and  defense and precious metals and commodities —and demonstrates that no matter the  audience or product, I’m able to craft engaging content informed by a company’s unique brand, vision and sensibilities. I’ve tailored copy to produce editorials for trade  publications, advertorials, marketing campaigns, speeches, talking points and  multimedia presentations for C-suite executives, annual ESG reports, shareholder and  prospective investor communications, features on showcase products, press releases and in-house special projects.

NARRATIVE WRITTING

Before moving to corporate work, I spent more than 15 years in journalism — including  an 11-year stint as a correspondent for The Associated Press, the 175-year-old global  news agency whose work is seen by 4 billion people every day. My favorite  assignments involved ordinary people, often in out-of-the-way places. I learned that  everyone has a great story in them, and it was my job to tell them accurately and compassionately. Journalism taught me to listen carefully, notice every detail, respect  the deadline and trust your teammates. Those foundational values continue to guide my  work today.

PROJECTS

Blending journalism and corporate writing, I produced an eight-part series exploring the oil production process, told by the employees responsible at each stage – from the dirt caked rig workers in Midland, Texas, to the marketers at corporate headquarters  responsible for negotiating prices on hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil at a clip.  The project took more than two years to report and write and involved interviews with  more than 100 employees. It also demanded meticulous planning and close  collaboration with the communications editor, several photographers and the graphics  team. Additionally, we partnered with the continuous learning unit so readers could access additional material related to each chapter when it published online, and the  series became part of the company’s onboarding material for new employees. I worked  on this project in addition to daily job responsibilities, proving my abilities to manage  tasks and collaborate with colleagues across the company – skills I bring to every  project, no matter its size or scope.
